This is the beginning of my latest abstract....not quite done yet. I wanted to convey the effect of motion like wind moving a mobile. My latest series of pathways will always have a realistic path from the woods into the world of abstract. Here again I want to depict the transformation of realism to that of the alternative universe of the abstract. #abstract,#artblog,#artcommentary,#artcritique,#artdiscussion,#contemporaryartblog,#artisttryingtomakealiving,#artphilosophy,#
Artists are always asked "what is your style or technique". For me it depends on the genre. I have primarily two: fairytale landscapes and contemporary abstracts. The fairy series is inspired by the turn of the century illustrations found in children's books especially in the 1920's where money was available for extravagantly illustrated books. The abstracts are inspired by Calder's moving mobile works of art, and Kandinsky's simple geometric shapes and intersecting lines.
After much consideration and comments from gallery curators, I will pursue adding more contemporary art pieces to my body of work. I will begin a series of pathways into abstraction, retaining a sliver of realism of a tree lined path into an obvious geometrical leaning abstract. Every now and then I will complete a magical landscape where fairies live in order to fulfill my yearning for my favorite subject. Alas it seems that fairies don't seem to sell. #abstractart,#artblog
